Upcoming Events

EUIJ-Kyushu Symposia Series
"Korea's experiences of FTAs and Suggestions to Japan"

While various discussions about the participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) are ongoing in Japan, talks for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Japan and the EU will start shortly. On the other hand, Korea has been actively promoting a conclusion of FTAs targeted on huge markets such as the United States, EU and India, and has been expanding its foreign market by liberalizing trade. In particular, a FTA with the EU was concluded in 2011, and in the following year, with the United States. It is said that Japan falls behind Korea in trade liberalization with huge markets.
Mr. Seong Dae Cho, a specialist on Korean foreign trade policy and a research fellow at Korea International Trade Association (KITA) will deliver a speech on the history of Korean FTA and its outcomes, and will also talk about the possibility of regional integration in East Asia and suggestions for Japan at the EUIJ-Kyushu symposium.
